Portland Mental Health & Wellness is a thriving private practice and training practice with three locations in SE and SW Portland. We are a collaboration of psychologists, psychiatric prescribers, counselors, marriage and family therapists and our trainees. Primary Function:
The IOP Psychiatric Provider will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, treatment, and support to patients who are participating in the Intensive Outpatient Programs at PMHW. They will work in collaboration primarily with the Director of IOP, but with the rest of the IOP team as well. Their role is meant to appropriately supplement the group and individual therapy aspects of treatment with psychiatric services, including medication management, as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Independently licensed psychiatric provider to conduct psychiatric evaluations; making diagnoses and prescribing medication to patients in IOP.
- Clinical encounters: Present for at least one IOP staff meeting per week (30 minutes), along with a caseload of 6 to 9 IOP patients (can be seen weekly or every two weeks depending on clinical presentation). Schedule is flexible.
- Follow all medical policies and procedures
- Complete psychiatric clinical records for all patient contacts
- Assess patients regularly for safety, ADLs, and mental status
- Treatment planning and regular assessment of patients’ progress, including need for higher or lower level of care, transition plan, and/or discharge planning
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with program staff, to ensure quality continuation of care
- Commit to working collaboratively with staff of diverse backgrounds, training, and levels of experience and to promoting teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice as a Board Certified Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Oregon with full prescriptive authority and DEA certificate in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in prescriptive capacity with psychologically complex adults in higher levels of care (residential, inpatient, PHP, IOP), community mental health, or outpatient settings.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with staff of diverse backgrounds, training, and levels of experience and to promoting teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Comfortable working paperless, using and saving files electronically
- Demonstrate competence and humility in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, class, ability et al
- Demonstrate commitment to the preservation of a workplace which embraces diversity
- Demonstrate commitment to confidentiality of patient and employee information
- Communicate professionally and effectively with patients and clinicians

- Follow policies and procedures to contribute to the administrative efficiency of the practice, taking initiative to suggest and develop those that may be needed

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment: When working from a PMHW office, the position is in a well-lit office environment. Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
Mental and Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. Ability to tolerate mental and emotional distress as an anticipated aspect of the position. May require working under stressful conditions.
