Doctoral Psychology Extern
Pronouns: He/They
I am a 4th year doctorate trainee earning my PsyD. In Clinical Psychology. I am originally from Monterey, California and moved to Oregon 3 years ago with my dog, Bridgers. I love to read a wide assortment of books, but I am especially interested in philosophy, theology, ethics, and social justice. I also care deeply about LGBTQIA+ advocacy and inclusion, particularly within faith communities. My graduate training has afforded me with opportunities to work with clients in community mental health and outpatient private practice settings. These opportunities have helped me to specialize in supporting clients with complex and developmental trauma.
As a clinician, I am passionate about psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed treatment. I believe the relational alliance that I form with my clients is the most essential part of our work. This means I aspire to take a posture of compassion, attunement, and humility. My top priority is to listen, understand, and feel with you. This means I prefer to allow my clients to lead, and I strive to respond to their leading with authenticity and empathy. I see therapy primarily as a place to tell our stories. It is a place where we can explore the stories we tell about ourselves, our pasts, and our relationships. Often, we encounter past experiences that haunt our stories like ghosts. In therapy, we can learn to encounter these ghosts in new ways that allow us to lay them to rest as ancestors.
