Annie Moylan, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

It takes courage to ask for help and to share your story with another person. We all have times where we need support from others in order to heal, but this does not mean seeking support and being vulnerable is easy. If you are in the process of starting therapy for the first time, continuing your healing journey, or considering that you might someday give therapy a try, I commend you for taking these steps to move closer to living the life you have imagined for yourself.

My approach is relationship based and highly collaborative—I believe you are the expert in your own experiences, and my role is to be a supportive guide in helping you uncover your own answers, rather than offering advice or making assumptions about what will be most helpful for you. I believe that human relationships are one of the greatest forces for change in our lives. My goal is first and foremost to foster a genuine relationships with my clients in a safe space where honesty and self-expression is encouraged. I also operate from a strengths-based approach. This is based on the understanding that everyone has a unique set of strengths, and that by focusing on these and how to apply them to your situation, rather than focusing only on the challenges, we can find a path forward.

My background involves working with survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, child and adolescent mental health, and other experiences of trauma and life stressors for folks of all ages. I am LGBTQ affirming and am especially passionate about working with LGBTQ youth and families. Understanding systems of racism, classism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, ageism, and other forms of oppression are also critical to my practice. I value lifelong learning for myself so that I can continue striving not to repeat these patterns in the therapeutic setting and gain better understanding of the lived experiences of my clients.
