Rebecca Berman, PMHNP-BC, MN, MSW
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
I began my career in mental health over 20 years ago, first as an MSW, in a long-term care facility with older adults, and then for 9 years working with patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies. In 2010 I decided to take my career in a different direction and returned to school to attend the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program at OHSU. After graduating in 2013 I worked for 7 years in a primary care clinic providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management to adults with a broad range of mental health concerns. I also have a small private practice where I provide both medication management and psychotherapy.
I truly believe that my social worker heart and nursing wings puts me in a unique position to see patients in the full context of their lived experiences and current challenges, combined with an advanced nursing education which allows me to assess the physical and mental health of each person and recommend evidenced-based treatment tailored to the individual’s needs.
I work with adults 18 and older with a range of presenting concerns including ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, sleep problems, and adjustment disorders resulting from significant stress. I especially enjoy patients who are active and collaborative participants in their own care and who believe that change is possible at any age. I consider it a deep privilege when patients trust me with their health and make every attempt to offer treatment that respects each individual’s autonomy and personal values.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, being near the water, and spoiling my pets.
I am excited to be joining PMHW’s team of dedicated mental health professionals who believe in treating people first and diagnoses second.
