Calvin Hanson, MS
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: He/Him/His
Hello!
My name is Calvin and I am a Professional Counselor Associate. I graduated from Lewis & Clark College with Masters of Science in Professional Mental Health Counseling and received a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Portland State University.
Therapy can seem like a huge project. Together we can break it down into smaller steps, working towards better insight into thoughts and feelings. I work from a person-centered point of view, that the client is the expert in their own reality. I start by meeting clients where they are at and working with goals that we set collaboratively.
My therapeutic approach is based off of mindfulness. I believe the first step in change is noticing. I use ideas and frameworks from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) into my therapeutic practice. I have experience in working with anxiety, low income populations, psychosis, as well as with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.
