Charlotte Trent, MSW
Clinical Social Work Associate
Pronouns: They/Them
My name is Charlotte Trent (they/them) and I enter the therapeutic space first and foremost trusting in the inherent wisdom and capacity for healing that I believe is present in all people. I have a Master of Social Work from Portland State University which shapes my curiosity around the roles family systems, trauma, and social and cultural context play in shaping our experiences of ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. I see my work as a therapist as supporting humans in strengthening insight around why they are the way that they are, and creating space to explore new narratives that are better aligned with the person they are becoming. To do this, I utilize psychodynamic and narrative therapeutic approaches, and lean on theories of attachment and human development to help provide context to how past experiences are impacting the here and now. As we work together, you can expect that we will explore the social and cultural frameworks that have shaped your understanding of the world, relationships and sense of self. My approach also includes identifying the internal and external resources available to those I work with, and utilizing those strengths to challenge behaviors and perspectives that may be getting in the way of their flourishing. Throughout my work, I am committed to holding space and reverence for people of varying identities and backgrounds in a way that honors the wholeness of the individual and their unique lived experiences. I strongly believe that establishing a caring and trusting therapeutic relationship is vital to the work we do together, and it is important to me that we collaborate in a way that leaves you feeling supported in pursuing the goals you have for your healing and well-being. It is my hope that our time together will strengthen what is already going well for you and bring you closer to living a life that feels authentic to who you are and supports your thriving.
I am supervised by Mark Reck, PsyD. and Rushini Jayawardena, LCSW.
