While the details and circumstances of our lives are different, we all struggle with issues that often have common themes – unmet needs, loss, disconnection, uncertainty, failure, trauma, and the fear and stress associated with these. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I primarily work with adults who struggle with stress, relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, and existential and spiritual issues. My approach to therapy is grounded in the understanding that there is a healing intelligence at work in the mind/body that naturally moves in the direction of wholeness when barriers are removed. The barriers may be beliefs, conditioned behaviors, unresolved traumas, disease, physical injuries, or nutritional deficiencies. I have been trained in and influenced by a number of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I also have a background in Nutritional Therapy and CranioSacral Therapy, and integrate these as applicable. I employ a number of different experiential techniques, such as mindfulness, art, SomatoEmotional Release, chair work, and visualization, but ultimately I try to tailor my approach to the unique needs and preferences of the individual and regularly solicit feedback in order to do more of what works. We cannot always control the circumstances in our lives but when we focus more on what we can control – such as how we relate to others, the world, and our own experience – we can greatly reduce the distress we experience and dramatically increase joy, peace, fulfillment, and sense of meaning and purpose.
