Jessica Gruenstein (M.A.) is a Doctoral Psychology Intern at Portland Mental Health and Wellness. She grew up in New York City, and completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University. She then attended grad school at Adelphi University, where she is in the process of getting her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Child and Family Studies. She works with children of all ages, adolescents, and adults, creating a therapeutic environment where individuals can express themselves without fear of judgment, and where all emotional responses are respected. She utilizes psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, mentalization-based therapy, and art therapy. She particularly believes in helping her patients connect their past with their present, understand patterns within relationships, overcome trauma, and gain mastery over their experiences through narrative storytelling and symbolic representation. Her clinical director and supervisor is Laurel Fuson-Lang, Psy.D. Jessica looks forward to continuing her clinical studies at PMHW, and helping individuals find meaning through close therapeutic relationships and deep exploration.
