Karson Gallagher, MSW
Clinical Social Work Associate
Pronouns: She/Her
Hello and welcome! My name is Karson and I’m a Clinical Social Work Associate. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University, and I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Auburn University where I also minored in Human Development & Family Science.
My work is rooted in the belief that meaningful connections and relationships are essential to the processes of healing, growth, and change. Therefore, I hold the therapeutic relationships I build with individuals to be the most important part of our work together. Building relationships takes time, trust, and openness, and it is my hope that we co-create a space where you feel safe to show up as your authentic self without the fear of judgment. I am committed to showing up for my patients with warmth, genuine curiosity, compassion, and the understanding that you are the expert of your own life.
My clinical perspective is largely guided by family systems and attachment theories, and is informed by the liberation health model and trauma-informed practices. I use a variety of therapies based on the individual needs and goals of my patients, but I often utilize aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, CBT, and Narrative Therapy in our work together.
I have been able to work collaboratively with adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of contexts as they navigate and process anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, trauma, houselessness, and/or marriage/relationships.
As I make progress toward licensure, I am supervised by Rushini Jayawardena, LCSW.
