Kristina Fury, QMHP
Psychotherapy with Adults
I am an anticipated psychologist resident at Portland Mental Health & Wellness working under the supervision of Mark Reck, PsyD. I anticipate receiving my doctorate in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Seattle.
My pre-doctoral work experience included an internship at one of the largest independent outpatient clinics in Idaho and extensive autism assessment. I have experience in college counseling, community mental health, and inpatient treatment. I am trained in multicultural theory and adapt evidence-based treatment and trauma-informed care to be responsive to the unique needs of each patient.
As an integrative therapist inspired by psychodynamic theory as well as family systems approaches and Emotion-Focused Therapy, I strive to offer an authentic, warm, safe space to foster people’s exploration of their experiences. With a non-judgmental curiosity and at their pace, I assist patients in understanding and expressing their emotions, needs, values, and goals. I collaborate with them as they increase their awareness of how they relate to the world and the people in it and how they can modify and strengthen their interpersonal skills to enrich their relationships with their partners, families, friends, and coworkers. Within a trusting, relationship, people can learn and adopt new ways of coping and step into the power of who they really are.
I work predominantly with adults. My areas of interest and experience include women’s issues; healing from sexual, emotional, and psychological trauma and neglect; pre-marital and committed-relationship issues; attachment and differentiating from the family of origin; family communication issues; and identity development and self-exploration throughout the lifespan.
