Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
I am a Licensed Psychologist and the Director of Clinical Training at Portland Mental Health & Wellness.
I believe that humans are designed for growth and connection. Often, we experience emotional distress or feel stuck when the creative strategies we previously used to cope with trauma or adapt to life challenges no longer serve us. In my approach, therapy is a collaboration where we work towards understanding your ways of coping, experimenting with new ways of being and connecting, and leaning in to who you are rather than trying to eliminate aspects of who you are. I strive to meet you with authenticity, curiosity, and cultural humility, and aim to help you build a holistic understanding of your experiences and identities that can support you in becoming personally empowered in your life.
I work with individuals experiencing a variety of life issues, such as relationship concerns, trauma, identity exploration, anxiety, depression, and general life stressors. I practice primarily from a gestalt and multicultural orientation, sometimes integrating somatic, emotion-focused (EFT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), and narrative therapies. When working with couples/relationships, I primarily use EFT and attachment-based therapies.
I am a graduate of the Pacific University School of Graduate Psychology, with a training focus in multicultural psychology and an emphasis in working with the Latinx Spanish-speaking population. I have experience in community mental health, college counseling, and healthcare settings and am trained in cultural adaptation of evidence-based treatment, intercultural communication, and trauma-informed care. I am able to provide therapy in Spanish.
