Lauren Streeter, MS
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Hi there! My name is Lauren Streeter, and I am a Qualified Mental Health Professional and en route to becoming a Registered Professional Counseling Associate. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, and I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Portland State University. While in Pennsylvania, I had the opportunity to work with adolescents and their families at a runaway and youth shelter and found my love for the chaos of families and relationships. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of contexts helping teenagers, adults, families, and couples navigate the messiness of life. During my graduate internship, I supported folks facing challenges related to identity, family distress, trauma, life transitions, and mental health distress.
I strongly believe that connection and relationships are integral to healing, growth, and change, and I hold this as central to my approach to counseling. Our work together relies on our willingness to show up as authentic people, and I recognize that while a trust takes time, it’s integral in the therapeutic process. You can expect me to bring curiosity, authenticity, warmth, and humor to my work. I genuinely love people and find great joy in understanding others’ experiences.
My practice is informed by Family Systems Theory, which provides a framework for understanding humans within the context and relationships in which they live. People don’t exist in a vacuum, and I think therapy should reflect that. I utilize Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, and aspects of both DBT and CBT in counseling. My approach is human-centered – I know that you know me best, and I’m excited to meet you wherever you may be.
As I gain progress toward licensure, I am under the supervision by Dr. Len Kaufman. I see clients within the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and I also see adolescents, adults, couples, and families in our outpatient program. My clinical director in the IOP program is Dr. Erica Aten.
