MJ Olejniczak, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: They/Them
It is no small feat to attend counseling sessions and invest in one’s own healing, especially when meeting a new therapist. In our time together, I aim to offer a nurturing and welcoming environment, where we can collaboratively explore concerns and goals for counseling. My approach is led by radical curiosity, authenticity, & humility. I operate within a technical eclectic lens, borrowing from a variety of theories to guide client care, such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Relational Cultural theory, Gestalt, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and creative interventions. Often times we cannot talk about ourselves without also talking about systems, integrating ways in which power and privilege relate to our interpersonal relationships, and how our experiences are then translated within our bodies. I am committed to tailor care to meet each clients’ goals, and support clients as we wade into processing experiences at a gentle, trauma- informed pace. I am honored to meet you where you are.
I earned a Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis & Clark, a CACREP accredited program; my training highlighted gender-affirming, anti-oppressive counseling, and trauma-informed care. During my second year, I valued my experience at Lewis & Clark’s Community Counseling Center, and shortly after, began my internship at Owls’ Nest North, where I felt grounded exploring identity with 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, couples’ issues, and collaboratively processing trauma with clients. Before continuing my education, my path in mental health began in residential settings for eating disorders and mood disorders, as well as working with folks undergoing TMS therapy for depression and anxiety.
Outside of counseling, I love to be outside, bake bread, and share time with found family, including my menace cat– Walter. (I don’t bake bread outside, though that would be neat).
