Nahla Torres, MSW
Clinical Social Work Associate
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
With a robust background in clinical mental health and social work, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals and families through various therapeutic modalities and settings. My journey began at Portland State University, where I earned my degree in psychology and continued to complete my master’s in social work.
I have had the privilege of working as a Clinical Social Work Associate at Mind Solutions, where I honed my skills in providing compassionate care. My role at Telecare Recovery as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) in an acute mental health and substance use residential facility further expanded my expertise in managing complex cases and crises. Additionally, my experience with New Health Services allowed me to support families and patients in hospice care, emphasizing empathy and resilience during the most challenging times.
My therapeutic approach is culturally informed, inclusive, and trauma-sensitive. I integrate a range of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based therapy, somatic therapy, and feminist therapy. I also specialize in family and couples therapy and have significant experience navigating individuals in crisis.
As a multicultural professional of Afro-Caribbean, Indigenous, Latin, and Middle Eastern descent, I bring a rich perspective to my practice. My passion for mental health is reflected in my commitment to creating a safe and healing environment for my clients. Outside of my professional life, I am a proud cat mom to four Sphynx cats, bilingual, and an avid artist who connects art and music to the healing process. I also enjoy candle making, which adds a unique touch to my self-care routine.
I am currently under the supervision of Mark Reck, whose guidance continues to shape my professional growth and development.
