Ren Feder, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
When working with individuals, I adopt a strength-based and trauma-informed approach. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where we mutually create and adjust goals to ensure personalized care. My practice is grounded in an existential perspective, aiming to guide individuals toward their most authentic selves and meaningful lives. While I can be solution-focused, I also welcome deeper exploration that grapples with the pain of navigating oppressive systems or societal expectations that disrupt one’s sense of self. In my work, I often remind individuals of the compassion we effortlessly give to others, yet forget to give ourselves.
I integrate techniques from CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Play Therapy for children. I am in the process of training in Internal Family Systems and hope to integrate more somatic approaches into my practice. I prioritize meeting individuals where they are, understanding that resilience can be exhausting.
I earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. While in San Diego, I provided counseling to adolescents and their families at a community mental health site, which offered services to students involved in the juvenile court system and the San Diego Unified School District.
As I progress towards full licensure, I am under the supervision and clinical direction of Dr. Len Kaufman.
