Post Doctoral Psychologist Resident

Pronouns: She/Her

I’m Shelby, a Post Doctoral Psychologist Resident at Portland Mental Health and Wellness. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from George Fox University in 2024 and am currently working under the license of Laurel Fuson-Lang, PsyD.

I believe that as humans, relationship is at the foundation of our being. It is through relationships that we learn about ourselves and make sense of the world around us. And even though many relationships are a source of pain, it is through relationship that we can reconnect with ourselves, rewrite longstanding narratives, and change the behavioral patterns we often find ourselves in. Using an attachment framework, I strive to provide care that allows my patients to reconnect with themselves and others in a way that is safe and authentic to who they are.

I work with a variety of mental health symptoms, but I have a clinical interest in complex trauma. Because of my interest and training I approach each session, regardless of the presenting issue, from a trauma informed lens. In addition to attachment work, I often integrate relational psychodynamic and feminist theory, internal family systems intervention, and acceptance and commitment (ACT) principals into the grueling and beautiful work that is psychotherapy.
